Essential items to pack for your vacation to keep the children entertained on holiday.

I’ve always thought the secret to a wonderful  holiday or less stress is, if the kids are happy then so are the adults.

We have enjoyed holidays for the past 12 years with our two daughters now aged 13 & 14 and whenever they have been happy on holiday an occupied, we have enjoyed the holiday experience more.

This is an SOS guide on “Must Haves” that should be packed in your suite case to help keep the children and the bigger kids entertained on holiday.

If you are travelling abroad to warmer climates, you will probably be spending a majority of your day around the swimming pool.

Your check list and holiday guide of toys and accessories to pack in your suitcase, which will not break your bank or the air port scales.

Inflatable Noodles

The inflatable noodles are great for travelling as they are very light, compact and easily folded away into your suitcase or holdall.

The inflatable noodles are very versatile as they can be used as a float, kickboard, learning to swim or for swimming  games such as towing your playmates or ridding the noodle.

We used an Early Learning inflatable noodle to teach our youngest daughter to race dive, by holding the noodle approximately 50cm’s parallel from the pool edge and slowly moving it further out, 10cm’s at a time until she was diving at the correct angle and depth.

Inflatable Ring

We then used a inflatable ring to teach her to not bend her legs as she enters the water, we achieved this by holding the inflatable ring, up-right like a hoop that a dolphin would dive through, you can lift the hoop up out of the water or half submerge, to practice different dive techniques. By the end of the two week holiday, our mission was completed and she was  diving perfect and we always remember that holiday fondly, the holiday Olivia learnt to dive.

Swimming goggles

Swimming goggles are an essential must have for the pool and to remember to pack for the kids, not only do they protect the children’s eyes  from particulates, infectious fluids, or chemicals which can easily cause eye infections  but also allow the child to see underwater much clearer.

A few game suggestions to play on holiday using the dive toys:

2. A game for 2 or more players of “Simon Says”, have all four Gems at the bottom of the swimming pool. You can only activate the light of the Gem that “Simon said”. Dive down and activate the lights of the chosen Gem.

3. From the edge of the swimming pool, activate the lights of the Gems and randomly scatter all four Gemglows into the water, you must collect the Gems in a set sequence of colour.
